Hundreds of people on Thursday attended the funeral of Roni Yihye, the student who was killed in a Qassam rocket attack on Sapir College in Sderot the previous day.

Education Minister Yuli Tamir and Sapir College president Zeev Tzahor joined the mourners who came to pay last respects to Yihye, a father of four, at the cemetery in Moshav Bitha near Ofakim.

"Roni, how could you leave me so young? How will I manage without you? Look how many people loved you and how many came to see you off," cried his wife, Esther, at the funeral.

"We came to mourn Yihye ... a man who made the dream of his life come true," Tamir said in her eulogy, referring to Yihye's decision to study logistics at the age of 47. "He was almost there. I hope his children will learn from him about the desire for learning."

"Everyone in the college knew Roni," Tzahor said. "They knew him because of his glowing modesty. When I look at unique people like Roni, I tell myself that if the college was built just for them, that's a good enough achievement."
