Women's advocates fear Katsav decision will silence future sex crime victims

Victims of sexual assault are still having trouble digesting Tuesday's Supreme Court decision to reject the six petitions filed against former president Moshe Katsav's plea bargain, which eliminates major sexual offenses from a former indictment against him.

The plea bargain includes only minor sexual offenses and spares Katsav any actual jail time. In addition to two counts of rape, it eliminates two more counts of forcible indecent assault, and one of sexual intercourse while exploiting an employer-employee relationship.

Advocates for sexual assault victims all seem to be in agreement that the decision will have a deep and lasting impact on their ongoing struggle.
