Last update - 19:31 25/02/2008 Agriculture Min. warns against eggs smuggled from West Bank By Amiram Cohen, Haaretz Correspondent Tags: Israel, West Bank  Agriculture Ministry inspectors and the Border Police have confiscated some 120,000 eggs smuggled into Israel from the West Bank in recent weeks, warning that the eggs are dangerous to people's health. The eggs can be identified due to the fact that they bear an approval stamp from the Hermon institute, which does not in fact exist. The ministry issued a warning saying the eggs produced without the necessary veterinary supervision and therefore could be infected with dangerous diseases. In addition, they are then smuggled into Israel in trucks, including garbage trucks, without the necessary refrigeration. Advertisement In 2007 Israel confiscated some 12 million smuggled eggs, and thus far in 2008 some 500,000 eggs have been confiscated.
