State Comptroller on Winograd findings: Top of pyramid to blame
By Shahar Ilan, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Lindenstrauss

State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss said Sunday in implicit reference to the Winograd Commission, which is due to release their final report by the end of January, that the "top of the pyramid is to blame."

He also said that personal responsibility should be taken by all public workers- appointed and elected- and should not be allocated to public figures separately.

Lindenstrauss, who made the comments at the first day of the Herzliya Conference, did not specify names but spoke close to the time the panel dealing with the Winograd Commission spoke.

His close associates confirmed Lindenstrauss' comments were made in connection to the committee.

The state comptroller maintained that placing blame and demanding personal conclusions are part of the policy led by the state comptroller's office, and therefore said in implicit reference to the committee, "the 'gatekeeper' is not to blame- whoever is at the top of the pyramid or close to the head of the pyramid is to blame."

The eighth Herzliya Conference, in association with the Institute of Policy and Strategy of the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, is being held in the Knesset, which has aroused much anger amongst MKs. Labor MK Shelly Yachimovich believes that Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik's agreement to hold the conference in the Knesset plenum was an "awful mistake."
