Lecturers, gov't to meet at court in bid to prevent back-to-work orders
By Tamara Traubmann, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: university strike

Senior university lecturers and foreign ministry representatives will hold a round of talks at 7:30 P.M. on Sunday at the National Labor Court, in an effort to end the 69-day strike.

Last week, the sides held numerous meetings on various proposals to end the strike.

Labor Court President Judge Steve Adler intends to hold a hearing on Wednesday in order to determine whether to hand out back-to-work order to the striking lecturers.

At Sunday's education committee meeting at the Knesset, MKs blamed finance ministry representatives for "foot-dragging" in the negotiations. Hebrew University head, Professor Menachem Megidor, made similar comments as well.

On Saturday evening, lectures protested across from the Prime Minister's Residence in Jerusalem, lighting nine torches, symbolizing the nine days left until January 13, the day university heads threatened to cancel the semester if the strike does not end.
