Graves of Ethiopian immigrants desecrated in Be'er Sheva
By Mijal Grinberg, Haaretz Correspondent

Be'er Sheva cemetery employees discovered Sunday morning that the tombstones on the graves of two Ethiopian immigrants had been smashed.

One of the desecrated graves is that of Gavriel Dawit, whose body was returned in October as part of an exchange between Israel and Hezbollah.

Dawit, who drowned off the Israeli coast in 2005 and was swept into Lebanese waters, was returned to Israel in exchange for Israel's release

Dawit, whose fate had been unknown, was designated "missing," and his family was informed about the body only after the deal had been completed.
