Police on Saturday morning arrested Maccabi Tel Aviv point guard Will Bynum, who is suspected of running over a 22-year-old with his car after attempting to get away from a Tel Aviv bar fight, Israel Radio reported.

Ben Natan, a DJ at the club who is from Dimona, was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Police arrested Bynum, an American point guard for the reigning Israeli champion, at his home two hours after the incident.

Police suspect an argument developed between Bynum, who was celebrating his birthday, and other basketball players late Friday at "G-Spot," a southern Tel Aviv nightclub.

The basketball players allegedly stepped outside, where the argument escalated. Bynum reportedly tried to drive off, and ran over Natan at the entrance to the club.

Whether the incident was intentional or a result of reckless driving has not yet been determined. Police have launched an investigation against the basketball player, confiscated his car and will decide whether to seek an extension in his remand on Saturday evening.

Police ordered the club temporarily closed after the incident
