Guy Rolnik, founder and editor-in-chief of TheMarker, is the recipient of the 2007 Kurt award for quality journalism in the field of economics.

The annual $5,000 prize is awarded, on behalf of Israel's Media Watch society, to the person who made the most significant contribution to journalism in the field of economics in Israel, on behalf of Israel's Media Watch society.

Rolnik was selected by a panel headed by Israel's Media Watch Chairman Zalman Shoval, which also included Professor Nava Haruvi and Major-General (res.) Oren Shahor.

Rolnik has promised to donate the monetary award to charity.

The panel selected Rolnik, a leading Israeli economics writer and commentator, for his illuminating and challenging writing, and his outstanding civil courage, often exhibited in articles that criticized influential members of Israel's financial elite.

Rolnik will formally receive the award at a ceremony to be held the Tel Aviv Journalists Association building on January 16.
