(David Bachar) del.icio.us Digg It!  new Last update - 11:25 03/12/2007 MK Chaim Oron announces candidacy for Meretz chairmanship By Mazal Mualem, Haaretz Correspondent Tags: Yossi Beilin, Zahava Gal-On  Meretz MK Chaim Oron announced on Monday that he will contend for the chairmanship of his party in internal elections set for March 2008. Oron thus joins current Meretz Chairman Yossi Beilin, faction head Zahava Gal-On and MK Ran Cohen, who have already announced their candidacies. Oron, who enjoys wide support among kibbutzim and established Meretz members, in the past has refused to run for chairmanship of the party, despite many requests he do so. The turnaround comes after many consultations on the matter.
