Jerusalem police are looking for an unknown assailant who savagely beat and robbed an elderly woman in her apartment in the Kriyat Hayovel neighborhood of the city.

The victim, Rivka Boganim, 79, was choked and beaten across her entire body and was taken by paramedics to Jerusalem's Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem where she was listed as "moderately wounded."

Hadassah medical staff stated that Boganim told them she struggled with the intruder, who entered her apartment through her second floor balcony, in an attempt to force him to leave.

The intruder then reportedly began strangling and beating Boganim, before snatching the jewelry she was wearing and fleeing the scene.

A paramedic who treated Boganim at the scene of the crime stated that he found her laying in the entryway to the building with injuries to her face and neck and bleeding heavily from her nose.

Boganim stated that after the intruder choked her and tore the jewelry from her body, she used her remaining strength to go downstairs to call for help before she collapsed in exhaustion.
