Police suspect that a 23-year-old woman from Be'er Sheva who was found dead in Kibbutz Ashdot Ya'acov in the Jordan valley Friday died from alcohol poisoning.

The woman had come for the weekend to visit her boyfriend, 23, who resides on the kibbutz. He maintains that the two drank alcohol throughout the night.

No signs of violence were found on her body.

Tiberias police chief Ilan Sardel maintains that the couple drank throughout the night and went to sleep in the morning. At around two p.m. Magen David Adom received a call about an unconscious woman on the kibbutz. However, when MDA staff arrived, they confirmed her death.

A paramedic at the scene said the boyfriend saw the woman's face turn blue and tried to wake her up. When he didn't succeed, he called for the ambulance.

Sardel said that according to the boyfriend's testimony, the couple drank a bottle of vodka together. Police and MDA services were unsure if the cause of death was the alcohol, and sent the body to be examined at the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Abu Kabir.
