Extremist Eskin arrested, suspected of wiretapping Lieberman
By Jonathan Lis, Haaretz Correspondent

The police International Investigations Unit arrested ultra-nationalist activist Avigdor Eskin and two private investigators early Monday, on suspicion that they wiretapped Minister of Strategic Affairs Avigdor Lieberman and businessman Michael Chernoy.

Police said that searches in the homes of the three suspects netted documents which supported the allegations against them, which include unauthorized and illegal use of wiretapping, and violations of the privacy-protection law.

Eskin came to public attention for having boasted of holding a pulsa dinura ceremony prior to the assassination of then-prime minister Yitzhak Rabin 12 years ago this week.

The ceremony, believed to be of kabbalistic origin, is aimed at conferring a death curse on the subject. Eskin, who said the ceremony was directed at Rabin, has recently been active in the movement to win the release of assassin Yigal Amir, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder.

In the past, Eskin was convicted of having violated anti-terror regulations. He was sentenced to four months imprisonment, and a one-year suspended sentence.
