Vandals scrawl swastikas on walls of Haifa kindergarten

Vandals daubed the walls of several Haifa buildings with swastikas late Thursday night, Army Radio reported. The vandals targeted, among other places, a kindergarten and a wall adjacent to a coffee shop.

Anti-Semitic symbols and slogans were also scribbled in magic marker on several cars and mailboxes.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are searching for the culprits.

Detectives with the Haifa police arrested a 19-year-old resident of the Mahane David neighborhood in Haifa last month on suspicion that he set fire to a sukkah built next to a Haifa synagogue and drew a large swastika nearby.

The man is also suspected of assaulting women in the neighborhood as well as other incidents of vandalism.

Police are investigating whether the arson was the latest in a series of anti-Semitic incidents committed by neo-Nazis in Haifa, or whether it was simply a prank.
