Shoafat refugee camp (Pierre Turgeman) del.icio.us Digg It!  new Last update - 13:39 12/10/2007 3 Beit El teens rescued after taken to refugee camp, robbed By Jonathan Lis, Haaretz Correspondent Three teenagers from the West Bank settlement of Beit El were kidnapped and robbed on Friday when they were picked up by an apparently Palestinian driver while hitchhiking near the Shoafat refugee camp close to Jerusalem. The driver picked the teenagers up at the French Hill junction in Jerusalem and took them to the nearby refugee camp, rather than bringing them to their settlement as they had requested. There, he stopped the car and robbed the teenagers of their wallets and cellular phones. He was assisted by two other people. One of the teens managed to flee to a nearby rooftop, where he notified the police. The driver and his accomplices escaped, leaving the teens surrounded by a mob. Police arrived and removed the teens from the scene without any harm. Advertisement Police have opened an investigation into the matter and are attempting to locate the robbers and return the teenagers' possessions.
