Average salary in Israel NIS 7,922, foreign workers earn NIS 4,365

Israel's 2,752 million workers in July earned an average salary of NIS 7,922 before tax, while 69.4 million foreign workers earned NIS 4,365 on average. The average wage for the first half of 2007 was NIS 7,759, according to Central Bureau of Statistics figures released Tuesday. The conversion rate on Tuesday was NIS 4.013 to the U.S. dollar.

The CBS figures show that 17,300 thousand Israel Electric Company employees received an average wage of NIS 18, 264 more than double that of all other sectors. In the finance sector, 85,300 employees earned an average of NIS 14,937, while 111,800 public servants received an average of NIS 11,786.

In the industrial sector, the monthly salary of 354,300 employees reached NIS 10,702, while in the transport sector the figure was NIS 9,093. Business services employees earned NIS 8,146, and construction workers made NIS 6,845 a month.

In the commercial sector, monthly earnings stood at NIS 6,789 in July, while health and welfare professionals received NIS 6,454. Teachers were paid NIS 5,898, being among the lowest-paid professionals in Israel.

In community services, salaries were NIS 5,303 and in agricultural workers received NIS 5,078. In catering and hospitality, salaries were a mere NIS 3,666.
