Father charged with beating his paralyzed daughter at T.A. beach

A 44-year-old Tel Aviv resident was charged Monday with causing serious injury to his daughter, one week after he was arrested on suspicion of having tried to drown the girl at a beach in the city.

The indictment attributes serious crimes to the suspect, including severe abuse of the helpless child. However, the prosecution decided not to charge the suspect with attempted murder, despite his attempt to drown his daughter.

According to the indictment, the father took his eight-year-old daughter to the "Banana Beach" on Saturday afternoon. At a certain point he began to beat her on her buttocks, back and neck and later dragged her to the water's edge, slapped her face and pushed her head into the water, time and again, despite her resistance.

The indictment added that the father then beat his daughter's body while her head was in the water. He then lifted her up and threw her back into the water while yelling at her.

Eyewitnesses summoned the authorities to the scene. Only when the lifeguards arrived did the suspect halt the beating.

According to the indictment, the man had beaten his daughter between three and four times a week over the last three years. This information was gleaned from the girl's testimony during questioning with a special investigator.
