A man and two of his children were killed in a road accident in the Jordan Valley on Tuesday when their car slammed into an oncoming commercial vehicle belonging to the Israel Defense Forces.

The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the Shomron Police. The head-on collision occurred when one of the vehicles involved in the accident swerved into the opposing lane.

Shlomi Amar, 40, and his 15-year-old daughter Eva were killed instantly when the two vehicles collided on Highway 90, north of Mehula. Amar's son David, 13, was critically injured and evacuated by military helicopter to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, where he died of his wounds.

The man's wife was lightly injured and another daughter, 7, was seriously hurt. The daughter is being treated at the Haemek Hospital in Afula. The family dog was also killed in the accident.

In a separate accident near the Golani Junction Tuesday, a 10-year-old boy was seriously injured and four other people were lightly hurt. The accident occurred when a private vehicle coming from the north crossed the divider line and crashed into an oncoming truck.

In a road accident on the Arava Highway Sunday, four people were killed and three wounded. Three of the dead were members of one family - Chaim (Charles) Bernstein, 54, his wife Roberta, 49, and their daughter, Batsheva, 18, all of Jerusalem. The Bernsteins' son Moshe, 11, was moderately to seriously injured.

The fourth fatality was Sharon Sabag, 49, of Beit Lehem Haglilit in the north. Her son Netanel, 12, was moderately to seriously injured, and her husband Yossi, 45, was lightly injured. All four of those killed were American immigrants.
