Hadassah Lieberman, the wife of U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman, made a brief trip to Israel on Sunday, in a visit she said stressed her family's long-time commitment to the State of Israel and Jewish education.

Lieberman told Haaretz that while American support for Israel remains strong, an effort must be made to strengthen the bond between the state and young American Jews. She added that the role of religious institutions in fostering this bond must be thoroughly examined.

During her visit, which lasted only a few hours, Lieberman addressed hundreds of women at the inauguration of a new campus for Nishmat - The Jerusalem Center for Advanced Jewish Study for Women.
