Pensioners' Party to be probed for financial irregularities
By Jonathan Lis, Haaretz Correspondent and Haaretz Service

The National Fraud Investigation Unit has launched a probe into suspicions on financial irregularities in the Pensioners' Party.

The investigation was opened roughly one month ago in the wake of complaints regarding an allegedly falsified document transferred to the bank, which allowed for money to be withdrawn from the party's bank account without the permission of authorized officials.

The letter was sent sent to the party's bank, and requested that Nava Arad, the party secretary, cease to be the sole individual authorized to sign off on account withdrawals.

The letter said the decision was reached by the party's management.

However, an Israel Radio reporter that exposed the affair found that such an agreement was never reached and that the party's management never met on the matter.
