Home Front Command briefs media on possible missile attack on Israel

The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command on Thursday briefed representatives of the media on the protocol in the event of a missile attack on Israel.

The different media outlets received beepers from the IDF, through which they will be informed in the event of an attack.

The IDF emphasized that the timing of the briefing was in no way related to a report later Thursday that the Syrian air defenses fired on an Israel Air Force warplane that entered Syria airspace and "dropped munitions." The IDF maintained that the briefing had been planned a long time in advance and the proximity of the events was coincidental.

The briefing, which took place in Ramle, focused on a studio the IDF is building in order to broadcast instructions should Israel come under attack. The studio is expected to be completed in two months. In the event of an emergency, the studio's broadcast will interrupt the regular programming on Israel's main television channels.

Home Front Command sources reported that this was not the first meeting between representatives of the media and the command officers, and added that future meetings will also be held.
