Norwegian authorities have filed charges against a Arfan Bhatti, 30, suspected of opening fire on the nation's main synagogue in Oslo in September, 2006, officials said Tuesday.

Bhatti was also indicted for conspiring to commit a terror attack on an embassy. The suspected targets were the U.S. or Israeli embassies, they said.

Bhatti was among three people indicted for terror-related offenses. All have denied any wrongdoing, and their attorneys said the basis for the indictments was weak.
