Woman killed, several others injured in pileup near Rehovot
By Revital Levy-Stein, Haaretz Correspondent and Haaretz Service

A 60-year-old woman from Rehovot was killed on Saturday in a pileup at Beit Oved junction.

Some 7 cars were involved in the fatal accident in which a person was moderately injured, and five others slightly hurt.

On Friday, a 60-year-old man was killed and another person badly hurt in a frontal collision between a car and a van at Ein Ayala junction near the old Tel Aviv-Haifa road.

In a separate incident, a mother and her 18-year-old daughter were moderately hurt near Kibbutz Neot Smadar. The two were evacuated by helicopter to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva for treatment.

The two were en route from Sdeh Boker to their home, some 70 kilometers northwest of the southern city of Eilat, when their car veered off its lane for unknown reasons. Trying to correct its trajectory, the driver lost control of the vehicle that overturned a number of times and rested by the side of the road.
