Career soldier's gun accidentally discharges; brother critically hurt
By Eli Ashkenazi, Haaretz Correspondent

A 32-year-old resident of Moshav Dalton in the Upper Galilee was critically injured on Wednesday when his younger brother's rifle accidentally discharged.

The younger brother is a career soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, and was cleaning the gun.

The bullet hit the man in his neck and he was taken immediately to the Rebecca Sieff Hospital in Safed.

Hospital officials are considering transferring the man to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. Safed police are looking into the incident.

The incident follows another accidental discharge on Wednesday, after an IDF soldier on the northern border was lightly injured after a gun accidentally went off.
