IDF kills 3 Gaza Palestinians by fence; says all were armed
By Yuval Azoulay

Israel Defense Forces troops killed three Palestinians in two separate shooting incidents in the Gaza Strip yesterday. IDF sources said the Palestinians were armed.

The first incident occurred at dawn, when soldiers from the Golani Brigade's 12th battalion stationed near the Karni crossing in the north of Gaza saw two Palestinians approach the border fence, and shot them dead. The second incident took place several hours later at the Erez crossing near Gaza's northern tip. The soldiers stationed there shot a Palestinian militant they say was armed after they had noticed him approaching the fence.

Meanwhile, an IDF paratrooper was lightly wounded in the West Bank town of Nablus. The soldier was shot while searching for wanted Palestinians. He was taken to the Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva. The soldier's detachment took fire and evaded two improvised explosive charges. No one was injured.

Another IDF force operating south of Bethlehem was also targeted by Palestinian militants, who set off an explosive they had concealed inside a car tire. Militants also hurled Molotov cocktails at the troops, and set off another charge. No soldiers were injured.

The IDF arrested 13 wanted people across the West Bank yesterday. The suspects were sent for questioning by the security forces.

Avi Issacharoff adds:

Palestinian sources said the two killed at Karni crossing were Hamas operatives Mohammed al-Batinji, 19, and Fadi Arpik, 23. The sources said the Palestinian killed at Erez crossing was Akrami Abu-Amsha, also a Hamas militant.
