Two Islamic Jihad gunmen were killed and 15 others injured in an Israel Air Force strike south of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip on Saturday night.

The aerial attack targetted two Palestinian vehicles - a sedan and a commercial vehicle.

Islamic Jihad confirmed that two of its members were killed. Some of the injured were civilians.

IDF officials told Israel Radio that the strike averted a terrorist attack in Israel, as the aerial attack destroyed a vehicle containing a large amount of arms and explosive devices planned to be used in the near future.

In an unrelated incident, an undercover Israel Defense Forces unit shot and killed an Islamic Jihad militant in Nablus' old market area on Friday morning. Also Friday, two civilians were taken to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for light injuries sustained in a Qassam rocket attack on Sderot.

The incident Nablus occured when soldiers surrounded the home in which Raed Abu al-Adas was hiding.

Al-Adas is considered the head of the Islamic Jihad's military organization in the Balata refugee camp, near Nablus.

Al-Adas was not armed when he tried to flee through a window in the house. He was shot and killed. Another fugitive was arrested.

IDF issued a statement that they uncovered an M-16 rifle and a pistol in a search of the area.

Over the weekend, two Palestinian militants were arrested in Jericho and Tul Karm. A number of grenades and explosive devices were thrown at IDF forces in Nablus over the weekend. There were no injuries.

Three rockets were fired into the western Negev from the Gaza Strip on Friday. Two hit Sderot and its environs and another hit a barn in Kibbutz Erez.

Two people were hospitalized in Ashkelon with minor injuries, and their property was damaged.
