Police arrest suspect in murder of Rishon Letzion teen
By Roni Singer-Heruti, Haaretz Correspondent

A youth from Be'er Yaakov was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion that he stabbed Rishon Letzion teen Tzahi Basha to death during a brawl in the city Saturday night.

Police are still searching for the central suspect in the killing and any accomplices who may have helped him hide since Saturday night.

The father of a different suspect was remanded by a Tel Aviv court on Tuesday after he was arrested on charges of obstructing a police investigation.

Police in Eilat on Monday located a young woman who they suspect was the reason for the deadly brawl. The girl was interviewed, but her testimony did not add any further details to police investigations.

The fight broke out after the girl, who was dating one of the two boys involved in the fight, became romantically involved with the other according to police. The two boys met to discuss the matter, but at some point, a scuffle broke out between the two boys' friends and in the process, Basha was stabbed to death.

The father arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police investigation is accused of contacting a police witness in the case and requesting she testify that his son was with her at the time of the killing, in order to establish an alibi.

The witness refused the request and notified investigators who arrested the father.
