14-year-old seriously injured after falling off scaffolding in Nazareth
By Eli Ashkenazi, Haaretz Correspondent

A teenager was seriously injured on Thursday after he fell off scaffolding while working at a construction site in Nazareth.

The 14-year-old dropped from a height of 15 meters. He had been employed to work at the site by a construction contractor.

The teenager sustained serious head injuries and was taken for treatment at the English hospital in Nazareth. After his condition subsequently deteriorated, he was transferred to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

Police arrived at the scene of the accident to investigate its circumstances.

A government investigator was also called to the site, in order to check whether employment and safety laws had been violated.

According to the law, teenagers over the age of 14 can be employed during their summer holidays for up to eight hours a day and no more than 40 hours a week.
