Knesset Speaker Itzik to hold talks with Abbas in Jordan Sunday

Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik (Kadima) is scheduled to meet with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday at his home in the Jordanian capital of Amman.

At their meeting, the two are expected to discuss netotiations for the release of captive Israel Defense Forces soldiers, U.S. President George W. Bush's call for an international Mideast peace conference announced in a major policy speech on Monday, as well as other issues.

Itzik will also meet with Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdelelah Al-Khatib during her visit.

Al-Khatib and his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Aboul Gheit will be visiting Jerusalem on Wednesday for talks with Itzik and the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Their meeting will be held under the committee's new policy to open its doors to all Arab diplomats.
