Security forces on Sunday moved into positions around Homesh to prevent a planned illegal protest march to the the former West Bank settlement organized by a rightwing group.

Hundreds of demonstraters amassed near in the area on Saturday night and are planning to head for the site that was evacuated during Israel's 2005 pullout from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank.

On Friday, the Israel Defense Forces warned activists against the planned march, saying the army has no intention of authorizing such an event, Israel Radio reported.

The army clarified that any individual who participates in the march, scheduled for Sunday, will be in violation of the law.

Police on Thursday removed dozens of right-wing activists from the site of the former settlement to prepare for Sunday's anticipated "mass arrival" of protesters.

Activists postponed a march to Homesh planned for Tuesday and rescheduled it for next week due to preparations by security forces to thwart the unauthorized protest.

Tuesday's march was intended to mark the two-year anniversary of the evacuation of the illegal outpost during the 2005 withdrawal from Gaza and part of the West Bank.

Earlier this week the police and IDF began setting up roadblocks in an effort to stop thousands of settlers and right-wing activists from converging on the Homesh site.

The group spearheading the move, Homesh First, reported that a 14-year-old girl had been lightly injured in Thursday's evacuation. Two Homesh First members were questioned by the police.

"It's a disgrace that a government in a Western democracy dares to use police to interrogate civilians on statements to the media. This is an unprecedented political investigation," said Yossi Dagan, who was questioned by police for three hours. Boaz Ha'etzni refused to answer the investigators' questions.

Several settlements including Elon Moreh, Yitzhar, Kedumim, Shavei Shomron and Einav are preparing to take in many activists who plan to arrive over the weekend and march to Homesh on Sunday.

The settlers' rabbis committee Thursday called on soldiers to refuse to evacuate Jews or prevent them from settling anywhere in the Land of Israel.
