Pensioners Party activist says she was harassed by MK Izhak Ziv
By Shahar Ilan

A Pensioners Party activist has complained she was sexually harassed during the election campaign by the party's MK Izhak Ziv, now a deputy Knesset speaker.

In an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth, R., who is in her fifties, said that during a campaign meeting at his home about 18 months ago, Ziv took her on a tour of the house.

When they reached the bedroom, he committed indecent acts and threw her on the bed, but she escaped and fled the house.

She added that she had decided at the time not to complain to the police, for fear of being ostracized, and that the outcome of the recent sexual harassment case against former president Moshe Katsav has only reinforced this decision.

Ziv, 70, charged Wednesday that the woman was simply making up stories to get revenge on him.

"No such thing ever happened," he declared.

He also announced he has hired attorney Zion Amir, who represents Katsav.

Amir asked Attorney General Menachem Mazuz to order the police to begin an investigation, arguing this was a simple case, "and it would be possible to finish the investigation quickly and remove a cloud from the Knesset member."

According to Ziv, he noted, R.'s accusations stem from "intrigues within the party." Pensioners Party members added that Ziv had tried to get the complainant fired about two months ago.

Yedioth arranged a polygraph test for R., which found that she was telling the truth. Pensioners faction chairman Moshe Sharoni therefore demanded that Ziv also take a polygraph test.
