Teachers: 7th to 12th grade classes to resume only for one day
By Tamara Traubman, Haaretz Correspondent

The Secondary School Teachers' Association announced on Thursday that while 7th to 12th grade classes will take place on Friday, they will not take place in Jerusalem on Sunday, except for classes directly related to matriculation exams.

Ran Erez, Chair of the Secondary Schools Teachers' Association, said that no progress has been made in negotiations with Finance Ministry representatives.

A dead end in negotiations of a new collective labor agreement has led the teachers to strike. The previous agreement expired in 2001. Classes took place temporarily last week only due to Memorial Day.

A restraining order issued by the National Labor Court instructed that classes that are directly related to matriculation exams must continue to take place.

There are 18 points of disagreement between the teachers' association and the finance ministry which include salaries, pension and retirement benefits and overtime benefits.
