Police grill Katsav's brother over sexual harassment allegations
By Haaretz Service

Police on Wednesday interrogated the brother of President Moshe Katsav, Lior Katsav, for the alleged sexual harassment of a foreign laborer some two years ago.

Katsav had already been questioned on the matter last month.

The complainant, a citizen of Belarus, claims she was harassed by Katsav some two years ago at a roadside inn in southern Israel. She filed her complaint after she was arrested by the immigration police last month.

Katsav has categorically denied the allegations and expressed his willingness to undergo a polygraph test.

"Everything said against me is babble and never happened. I believe and hope the police will soon uncover the truth," he said.

Without elaborating, he said it was sad that everyone who is detained by police for violating the law chooses to extricate himself by disseminating baseless stories and slander against the Katsav family.

The complainant also filed a complaint against lawyer Amos Maimon, who briefly served as a senior official at the President's Residence. She claimed he hugged her at a hotel in Eilat, offered to help her arrange permanent residency status and then tried to forcibly kiss her.

"There's no truth to the allegations," Maimon said. "I don't know who's trying to tarnish my name and who is trying to pull strings to hurt me. Even if all her allegations were true, they are not sexual offenses."

Lior Katsav has been the most vocal defender of his brother President Moshe Katsav, who is currently facing charges of rape and other sexual offenses.
