2 doctors held for allegedly charging to treat child with cancer

Two doctors at a hospital near Tel Aviv were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of demanding money from the parents of a young cancer-sufferer in order to treat their daughter.

The two detainees work as the director and deputy director of a department at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.

The parents, whose daughter died as a result of the illness, first complained to police about the two doctors about one month ago. The parents said that the two senior doctors demanded thousands of dollars to treat their daughter.
