President Moshe Katsav's defense lawyers demanded Wednesday that Attorney General Menachem Mazuz hand over the exact dates of the two incidents during which a a former tourism ministry employee known as A. claims to have been raped.

In the draft copy of the indictment, Katsav is charged with raping A. on two occasions.

In a letter sent to Mazuz on Tuesday, the president's attorneys Avigdor Feldman, Zion Amir and Abraham Lavi demanded that the attorney general drop the allegations and the case if he cannot pinpoint the specific dates of the alleged rapes.

In the letter, the lawyers make note of a change that was made on the charge sheet with regards to the first alleged rape, following the addition of second alleged rape to the indictment.

In the draft copy of the original indictment, the first alleged rape supposedly occurred a month after A. began work at the Tourism Ministry. But in an updated version of the charge sheet, the first rape occurred "within the first two months of A.'s employment at the ministry, and on a date unknown to the prosecution."

Katsav's lawyers maintain that this change came after two more pieces of evidence regarding the second rape were added to the case - a receipt from the hotel on the date of the alleged second rape, and additional testimony from A. herself.

The lawyers maintain that, "It is possible that the date attributed to the second incident is false, or the date attributed to the first incident was wrong in the first place. Perhaps, and this is also a possibility, all of these incidents are fluid in terms of time, and can be assigned to any place, which casts doubt on the alleged events."

The prosecution refused to comment on the defense attorney's claims, and said that all of their allegations will become clear at Katsav's hearing on May 2.
