Israel repatriates Syrian who crossed into Golan Heights

Israel on Saturday repatriated a Syrian man arrested the day before for crossing into the Golan Heights.

The 24-year-old, who suffers from serious health problems, had crossed the border into Israel in order to seek medical treatment.

Following reports of an infiltration from Syria, the Israel Defense Forces and Border Police launched a search of the area. Soon after, a local resident reported a sighting of the suspect, which led to his arrest.

Police found that the man did not possess any weapons, and said that the man most likely had no intention of carrying out a terror attack.

Saudi nabbed trying to enter Israel via Egypt

Egyptian police Friday evening arrested a Saudi man who was trying to enter Israel across a barbed wire fence in the Sinai peninsula, police sources in Sinai said Saturday.

The Saudi man, named as Abdul Waddad Abdul Alim al-Doussari, 32, was caught on foot in the Ras al-Naqab area, which is closed to non-Egyptians, the sources said.

Egyptian police often find people trying to enter Israel, usually for work or for smuggling, but the sources said this was the first time they had caught someone from a the Gulf state.

The Saudi said during questioning that he was on his way to the port of Nuweiba, which is on the Gulf of Aqaba more than 100 kilometers south, the sources said.
