12 people hurt, 5 others arrested in West Bank anti-fence protests

Twelve people were hurt and five others arrested Friday during protests against the separation fence throughout the West Bank, Israel Radio reported.

Palestinian, Israeli, and foreign protestors clashed with Israel Defense Forces and Border Police troops during the weekly anti-fence demonstration near the West Bank village of Bil'in.

Protestors said 12 people were injured in after security forces used rubber bullets and tear gas in order to disperse the demonstration.

Five protestors were arrested near Bethlehem on suspicion of violating an order by GOC Central Command Yair Naveh declaring the area a closed military zone.

Four of those arrested are journalists, including one from Reuters and one from Al-Jazeera.

One the detained protestors is also suspected of sabotaging the separation fence in the area.
