Man killed when truck ploughs into bus stop near Be'er Sheva
By Mijal Grinberg, Haaretz Correspondent

A man was killed and two other people were lightly wounded on Thursday when they were hit by a truck at a bus stop at an intersection near Be'er Sheva.

"Firefighting staff are checking whether there are others trapped under the truck," said the commander of the local firefighting team, Eli Peretz.

Four people had been standing at the bus stop, at the intersection between Kibbutz Lahav and Kibbutz Dvir. One person was struck by the truck, and the other three managed to get out of the way in time.

The wounded were taken to the Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva,

Initial police investigation indicates that the truck had been heading in the direction of Tel Aviv when he was forced to brake quickly, as the bus in front of him stopped to pick up passengers. The truck apparently began to roll into a ditch and hit the bus stop.
