Police arrest two youths for holding car race in Haifa
By Haaretz Service

Traffic police arrested two 22-year-old drivers in downtown Haifa early Tuesday after they were caught racing each other along the city's Ben-Gurion Blvd.

Police confiscated both vehicles, which belong to the parents of the drivers, and revoked their licenses.

Traffic police handed out more than 150 traffic violation tickets to drivers nationwide over the course of Monday night, following the Passover seder.

Police say that the majority of the tickets were given to those who drove on the shoulders of the roads, attempting to bypass the heavy traffic.

Five people were arrested early Tuesday morning for driving while intoxicated, and 15 drivers were fined for driving through major junctions on red lights.
