By Eli Ashkenazi, Fadi Edayat and Mijal Grinberg, Haaretz Correspondent, and Haaretz Service

A 72-year-old woman was killed Tuesday in Be'er Sheva she was struck by a vehicle being parked. The woman was killed when the vehicle suddenly accelerated, for reasons still unknown.

Police confiscated both vehicles, which belong to the parents of the drivers, and revoked their licenses.

Traffic police handed out more than 150 traffic violation tickets to drivers nationwide over the course of Monday night, following the Passover seder.

Police say that the majority of the tickets were given to those who drove on the shoulders of the roads, attempting to bypass the heavy traffic.

Five people were arrested early Tuesday morning for driving while intoxicated, and 15 drivers were fined for driving through major junctions on red lights.

On Monday evening, a 36-year-old female motorist from the northern village of Ilabon was killed when the vehicle she was driving swerved from its lane and struck a tree in the Lower Galilee.

Earlier Monday, Dalia Plotkin, 22, of Kiryat Motzkin, died at Rambam Medical Center after her car crashed into a tree on the Haifa-Nesher road. The reason for the accident is unknown.

In a separate accident near Plugot Junction, between Kiryat Gat and Beit Govrin, four people were injured, including one seriously. Initial investigations reveal that a car deviated from its lane and collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction.

Three police officers were riding in one of the vehicles, two of whom were moderately injured and one seriously. The driver of the other car was also moderately injured. All of the injured were transferred to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for treatment.

Also Monday, an 85-year-old resident of Haifa was seriously wounded after she was hit by a car in the Kiryat Shprinzak neighborhood of Haifa.
