PA: IDF troops kill Palestinian during operation in West Bank city of Jenin

Israel Defense Forces troops shot and killed 16-year-old Palestinian youth during clashes near the West Bank town of Jenin, a Palestinian security official said Thursday.

The youth was identified as Ahmed Asasah. The IDF did not immediately comment on the incident.

Also Thursday, three Qassam rockets hit near the southern city of Ashkelon, causing no damage or injuries.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian militant injured Wednesday by Israel Air Force fire in the Gaza Strip died of his wounds.

In the nearby village of Mutlat Shahida, troops responded to fire directed at them and shot toward an armed man who was stationed on a roof but did not notice that he was hit, an army spokesman said.

In the city of Nablus, the IDF arrested during house-to-house searches a member of the Islamic Jihad militant group, the army and Palestinian security officials said. Israel Radio said the man was the West Bank leader of the group.
