Cops: Enough evidence to indict MK Marciano over bar brawl
By Roni Singer-Heruti, Haaretz Correspondent

The police investigators of the alleged attacks and threats by MK Yoram Marciano at a Herzliya night club last month have completed their probe and are to recommend he be charged based on what they say is solid evidence against him. Their conclusions are to be passed on to the head of the police investigations and intelligence branch, Major General Yohanan Danino. If Danino approves, he will pass the recommendations on to the State Prosecutor's Office.

Sources in the police have stated previously that the evidence collected leaves them "no choice" but to recommend that Marciano be indicted for his involvement in a violent incident at the Rio bar in Herzliya last month. Investigators based their conclusions on testimony by the two security guards at the club, who said Marciano threatened and attacked them, and spit in the ear of one of them.

The strongest piece of alleged evidence against Marciano is the club's security camera video, which corroborated the stories of the two guards. The video allegedly shows Marciano attacking one of the guards during a dispute over his attempt to leave the club. The lawmaker is also seen threatening a photographer who approached him. Immediately thereafter Marciano's friend is seen slapping the photographer. The police said they would also recommend indicting the friend.

When the police showed Marciano the video, he said he agreed that his behavior had been inappropriate but argued it was not criminal.
