A couple was killed in a car crash on Monday morning near the West Bank town of Kiryat Arba, Israel Radio reported.

Police inspectors said that the couple's car veered off its lane for an unknown reason and crashed into a truck, driven by an East Jerusalem resident. The truck driver tried to avoid hitting the car, but was unsuccessful. His vehicle collided with the car, dragging it along until the truck came to a halt.

The passengers, Tzvi and Hadassah Staskin who got married only two months ago, were killed on the spot.

Tzvi is the son of Rabbi Danny Staskin, of the West Bank settlement of Ma'on. He and his wife will be laid to rest in the Sussya cemetery, and the funeral procession will leave from the Ma'on synagogue on Monday.

Magen David Adom paramedic Devorah Aviad told the radio the ambulance arrived at the scene several minutes after the collision took place.

"The truck was placed on top of the private car, which was turned over. We found a man with no life signs, and tried to see if there were any other passengers trapped inside the car ... only after turning the car over did we see that a woman was also in the car."

Aviad called on drivers to exercise great care in driving. "Treat this [car accidents] like terror attacks. It's the same thing ... entire families are wiped out and it's terrible," she said.
