Six wounded in weekly Bil'in anti-separation fence protest
By Meron Rapoport, Haaretz Correspondent and Haaretz Service

Five Palestinians and one Border Policeman were wounded Friday at the weekly anti-separation fence demonstration in the West Bank village of Bil'in.

Two of the Palestinians sustained head wounds from rubber-tipped bullets and the rest were lightly hurt, said Jonathan Pollak, leader of the Anarchists Against the Wall organization. The Border Policeman broke his arm, he said.

According to Pollak, security forces began to repel the activists before they reached the fence. He said he was pushed despite being on crutches, and that tear gas and rubber-tipped bullets were used unnecessarily.

Four activists - two Palestinians and two Israelis - were detained for questioning and later released. One of them, Shai Pollak, claims he was shoved into a military vehicle, blindfolded and released at Maccabim roadblock, a few kilometers away.

The Israel Defense Forces said Pollak was blindfolded after he shouted derogatory remarks and spat at the soldiers.

Over the last two years, the village of Bil'in has become the site of a weekly demonstration protesting the erection of a security fence Israel claims is intended to keep out terrorists, which Palestinians say is a land-grab
