Libai to represent Lindenstrauss in High Court petition on war probe
By Yuval Yoaz, Haaretz Correspondent

Professor David Libai will represent State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss in the High Court of Justice petition that contests his right to publish findings from his report on the management of the home front during last summer's Lebanon war.

Libai and Lindenstrauss met Sunday and agreed to submit their response to the petition in the near future.

Libai is a former justice minister, and until recently represented President Moshe Katsav in the affair involving several allegations against the president, including rape.

Lindenstrauss had requested that the High Court of Justice discussion over the petition be delayed after Attorney General Menachem Mazuz refused to represent him in the petition filed against him by the Office of the Military Defender, and commander of the Home Front, Major General Yitzhak Gershon.

Lindenstrauss and Libai refused to say whether the legal position they will adopt against the petition differs from the one that Mazuz refused the case over.

According to estimates, Libai will file a response to the petition within the next few days.
