Kenya police arrest man suspected of planning attack on Israeli airliner
By Haaretz Service

Kenyan police on Friday arrested a foreign national suspected of having planned a terrorist attack on an Israeli airliner five years ago, Israel Radio reported.

The man, who unofficial sources identified as Salah Ali Saleh Nabhan, is said to be an Al Qaida operative, also wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations for his alleged involvement in the bombings of Unites States embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

In 2002, an attempt to blow up an Arkia plane failed after a missile fired by Al Qaida narrowly missed its target.

In the wake of the incident, Israeli airlines installed anti-missile systems on their planes.
