Four people killed in car accidents across country Friday
By Haaretz Service

Four people were killed in three separate traffic accidents across the country on Friday.

Two people were killed Friday morning when two cars collided on highway 784 in the Lower Galilee.

The head-on collision between two private vehicles also left eight people injured, three of them seriously. The passengers of the two vehicles were evacuated to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa for treatment. Police are currently investigating the collision.

In a separate incident Friday morning, a motorcyclist was killed in Tel Aviv when he was hit by what police believe was a commercial vehicle at a busy downtown intersection. The police's preliminary investigation revealed that one of the two vehicles involved in the lethal accident apparently did not obey a traffic light.

Later Friday, a 68-year old bicyclist was killed in Ramat Gan when a Subaru veered off the road for unknown reasons and hit him, police said. The man was transferred to Ichilov Hospital, but quickly succumbed to his wounds.

Over the past week, five people have been killed and 842 injured in a total of 740 traffic accidents. Among the injured, 29 are currently in moderate condition and 10 are in serious condition.

Since the beginning of 2007, 53 people have been killed in traffic accidents across Israel.
