Past terror attacks in the Eilat area

February 8, 1990 - Three terrorists who infiltrated Israel at the Arava road's Tzukim junction are killed by IDF soldiers after firing at vehicles, wounding four soldiers.

November 25, 1990 - An Egyptian soldier shot and killed an Egged bus driver and three career soldiers, wounding 26 IDF civilian workers, 21 km north of Eilat on the Kadesh Barnea road.

May 30, 1992 - Two terrorists swam over from Aqaba, shot and killed the guard at the Interuniversity Institute, 10 km south of Eilat.

November 19, 2003 - A shooting attack at the Arava crossing into Jordan, north of Eilat, killed a tourist from Equador and injured four others.

August 19, 2005 - Al-Qaida operatives in Aqaba fired three Katyusha rockets at a U.S. Sixth Fleet ship. One struck a military facility in the Aqaba port, killing one Jordanian soldier and wounding another; another fell near the Eilat Airport and the city's hospital.
