Katsav accuser sues presidential aide for slander
By Roni Singer-Heruti, Haaretz Correspondent

The woman accusing President Moshe Katsav of sexual assault filed a slander suit Thursday against a presidential aide who claimed in a radio interview a day earlier that she is engaged in prostitution.

The suit against aide Amnon Shomron, filed at Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court by attorney Kinneret Barashi, is for a sum of NIS 50,000.

Shomron told Army Radio on Wednesday that he knew for a fact that the complainant, A., works as a prostitute.

According to the suit, the "defendant declared with great effrontery, "I'm telling you that was her profession - I know she worked in that and that was her background,'" it said.

"The plaintiff has never worked in prostitution and has never offered sexual services of any kind for money," it said. "The plaintiff does not know her and has never met her. Nonetheless, he recklessly and arrogantly chose to sully her good name in public and to carelessly sling mud in the most vulgar way possible."
