Thousands evacuated from Hermon resort due to weather
By Eli Ashkenazi, Haaretz Correspondent

Some 5,000 visitors were evacuated from the Hermon ski resort Saturday due to the harsh weather conditions in the area.

Following the sudden outbreak of a snow blizzard and the onset of heavy fog, the resort's staff began evacuating the people in an orderly fashion.

The visitors were evacuated in organized convoys of vehicles in order to prevent road accidents.

The Hermon ski resort will be closed on Sunday and is scheduled to reopen on Monday.

Scattered showers fell across central Israel and the Negev on Saturday.

Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy and cold, with more snow predicted to fall on Mt. Hermon.
