IDF reserves soldier lightly wounded near Ramallah
By Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondent and Haaretz Service

An Israel Defense Forces reserves soldier was wounded lightly Tuesday afternoon when a flaming tire burst, near the village of Kibiya, north of Ramallah. Palestinians had placed explosives in the tire and lit it, next to the separation fence.

Israeli security forces have in recent days arrested nine Palestinians suspected of involvement in a shooting attack which left three security guards wounded.

The Shin Bet, Israel Defense Forces and police carried out the arrest raid in East Jerusalem and its outlying neighborhoods.

Four members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad were arrested in the neighborhood of Dahiyat al-Barid on suspicions of lightly wounding two of the guards.

Five Fatah militants were arrested in Bir Naballah on suspicions of moderately wounding one of the on the guards.

The militants are suspected of opening fire on the guards in a mini-market in Bir Naballah. The guards were employed at a separation fence construction site on the Jerusalem seamline.

Meanwhile, Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday fired two Qassam rockets into Israel. One of the rockets landed in the western Negev and the other landed south of Ashkelon. There were no injuries or damages in either incident.
